Going on a Mole hunt, gunna catch a big one ...

Mom came down to visit this weekend. Her friend Susan and her husband Gerry were coming this way and invited mom to ride along. They got here Thursday night in time for supper. We had a great visit before bedtime. Friday, Gerry and Susan had things to do, so mom and I took off for the morning. We did a bunch of shopping and mom found some great fabric to redo her room. We got the kids picked up in the afternoon and continued our browsing. Jason, Gerry and the kids went to the Grizzlies home opener. Us ladies continued our shopping. Saturday, Jason and Chandler went to our friends Jeanne and Jake's to lay sod. When Jason got home he began the mole hunt. We have a mole digging up our front yard. We've been trying to kill it but haven't succeeded. Mom helped Jason find the holes, then after removing all the excess dirt (see the shovel photo) he'd light a stick of poison and shove it down the mole hole and cover it with dirt. It is supposed to kill the moles, but alas, this morning we had two new mole holes in the front yard! The kids went to Zen VanHoffmans birthday party. He was one of the boys that lived above us in our little basement apartment before we moved into the house. The kids are best friends with him and his brother Zeb. They were so excited to spend the afternoon with them. Uncle Bryan and Greg came over for a visit before the BIG game. We went to Costa Vida for lunch, then Uncle Bryan, Greg and Gerry left for the game. Check out Uncle Bryans "Go Cougars" hat. I think he looks quite dashing in it. A mix of Quigley down Under and John Wayne! We met up with Kelcie, Chris and Brittney, Jasons sisters and niece, at the mall for a quick visit then went to Gardner Village to look around. There was a witch festival so it was decorated pretty cute. We had supper then the boys went to a show, Kodie went to bed, and Mom, Susan and I watched a movie. It was a very busy, but very fun weekend. We were glad to have such great company to visit us!

Jr. High has been hard on Chandler. He's changed so much. Unfortunately, it hasn't been for the better....
