Scrambled, poached, or fried?

Kodie was involved in the grade 4 egg drop this week. I've never even heard of an egg drop before! The kids have to design some sort of device to protect an egg that is dropped off the school roof. The whole idea is to prevent the egg from becoming scrambled on the concrete. She didn't have many ideas on what to do, but insisted that the project involve duct tape. She was adamant that if we used duct tape the egg would stay in one piece. She must be her grandpa's girl! My dad has been known to fix many, many things with duct tape. In fact, I remember a time when it was used to hold the front of a TV to the back of the TV... anyway, she insisted and since it was her project that is what she got. We helped her make a parachute out of a garbage liner bag, duct tape and string. She cut two compartments from the egg carton, put the egg in between, and yes, she duct taped them together. We all were very skeptical about the survival of the egg, but as you can see from the photo documentation below, the parachute opened and floated the egg gently down to the earth. She was very excited, and we were as well!

Chandler had games 2 and 3 of Lacrosse yesterday. After a full week of practices and more game time, his confidence is growing. He is working very hard at home practicing as well. It's fun to watch him and to learn the game.

Saturday after the games, Kelcie came over and helped me get peaches ready for the freezer. I had 2 boxes to peel and slice. We got through them in about 1 1/2 hours. I was so glad for her help. We ended up with plenty of peaches to enjoy for the winter. In fact, we are having peach crisp for dessert tonight! Yum!

I loved egg drop day in elementary school. Canadians don't do that?

You are kidding, Jason did not share his egg drop experience. I thought everyone had to do it?!
