Guess what I've been up to ...

I got up this morning and decided to do what I want to do today!  I had a math test in class last night, so no homework or studying this weekend!  I have had a few projects going and decided to get them finished today.  Before the "fun" could begin I had a few "need to's" top get done.  The first was making a few new watchbands for mom's watch so I could get them in the mail.  I was on my way out the door to the post office when she phoned and said that the mail in Canada is on strike.  Whew, good thing she caught me in time, otherwise they'd be sitting at the border for who knows how long!

The second "need to" was the spice cupboard.  It has gotten so bad that you have to protect your head every time you open it for fear of concussion due to spices jumping out at you!  I posted my before and after so you can see the vast improvement, just please don't judge the before, I wasn't blessed with my mom's organizational skills!

Before

A quick trip to the dollar store and $7 later we have this ...
After

Our window seat had an orange cushion that had a very mysterious substance all over it that I couldn't remove, so I decided to recover it.  I recently finished a quilt top with all "my colors" in it plus a beautiful teal.  I decided that I really liked the teal with the oranges/greens/purples and browns.  I opted to add the teal to my color scheme with a great backdrop behind the couch and a new window seat cover.  I found this really cute fabric at Home Fabrics (love this store) and had enough to recover my cushion and 1 pillow.

Here is the result ...

I bought these bi folds at the Re-Store (love this store too!!) and rattle canned them, then rough them up a bit.  ( glad I'm tough enough to rough SOMETHING up), then propped them up behind the couch.  I had seen a feather wreath and really wanted one.  A quick trip to Hobby Lobby (love this store as well!!) and I was home with a metal wreath base and a few feather boa's.  I decided to add the flowers so there would be a little color inside the wreath.

Don't look too closely at the pictures, they are really old.  I need to get some current pictures sent into Costco so I can update them, but you get the idea of what it will look like.

I added my one teal pillow to the chair pillows to bring some teal to the other side of the room.  I'm trying to think what I can add to the lamp on the piano or to set on the piano that would go with it all.  Any ideas?

Anyway, that was what I got done today!

I agree, it all looks fabulous! I especially love the feather wreath, I may have to copy that! I've never been to Re-Store but I think I need to make a trip now...
